Makes:

1 as needed red chilli, deseeded & chopped
1 as needed red onion, chopped
1 tbsp. brown sugar
1 tbsp. paprika
2 tbsp. olive oil
2 tbsp. wine
2 tbsp. tomato puree
250 grams sun-dried tomatoes, chopped
3 cloves garlic
4 as needed tomatoes, deseeded & chopped
 pinch of salt
1 small ginger, peeled & chopped

Instructions

STEP 1/3

Attach the compact and fast MQ 20 chopper accessory to Braun’s MQ 7 Hand blender. Start chopping the red onion together with the garlic gloves, the deseeded red chilli and a small piece of peeled ginger. Heat the olive oil in a large heavy-bottomed saucepan and add the chopped ingredients. Cook over low heat 5 to 6 minutes until softened, stirring every so often.

STEP 2/3

Switch the accessories with simply one click and add the MQ 40 Chopper/ Blender accessory to the hand blender. Quickly chop the sun dried tomatoes, two tablespoons tomato puree and the fresh- deseeded tomatoes by only pulsing a few times. Add the tomato mixture together with brown sugar, red wine vinegar, paprika spice and 300 ml of cold water to de ingredients in the saucepan. Bring to the boil and simmer gently for 10 minutes.

STEP 3/3

Now use again Braun’s MQ 40 Chopper/Blender accessory with its blending insert. Place in the ketchup and pulse on a medium speed until smooth. Add a little water if the consistency is too thick. Season with sea salt and pepper to serve.
