How can I clean my kettle?

Before cleaning make sure you have unplugged your kettle and let it cool down. Wipe with a damp cloth, and dry thoroughly. Do not use abrasives because they will scratch the metal and plastic surfaces. Even though your kettle comes with a filter, you still need to clean the inside (and the filter) regularly. Regular descaling of the flat element will improve the performance of your kettle.

Is it normal for there to be steam emission around the switch of the kettle?

A little steam emission is normal in many kettles. If this is excessive, please contact the Kenwood customer experience department.

Why is my kettle noisy?

Accepted Answer

All kettles regardless of manufacture will make a noise whilst boiling. The noise level is determined by the power rating, the body material and the shape. A 3KW kettle in stainless steel will always have a noisier operation than a low power plastic type. Your kettle will get noisier as it reaches boiling point. Once your kettle has boiled the noise will abate. If your kettle is older, descaling the kettle may reduce the noise.

How often should my kettle be de-scaled?

Every few months in hard water areas or if obvious scaling has taken place. Scaling of the element will shorten the life of the product.
