For the hash browns: peel the sweet potato and the onion and grate finely with Braun’s MultiQuick 9 food processor attachment using the fine shredding insert.
Lightly salt the grated sweet potato and wring out in a kitchen towel or straining cloth until hardly any liquid comes out.
Peel the red onions and cut into rings.
Insert the griddle plate on the top and the grill plate on the bottom of the MultiGrill 7 and use it as an open grill. Set the temperature of the griddle plate to 230°C and of the grill plate to 60°C and press the start/stop button to preheat the grill.
In a bowl, mix the grated sweet potato with the flour, cornflour, nutmeg and cinnamon. Form hash browns from the mixture.
When the display shows ready, fry the hash browns on one half of the griddle plate on both sides for about 5 minutes until crispy. At the same time, fry the onions on the other half of the griddle plate.
Cut the burger buns in half and place them on the grill plate to warm up.
Spread applesauce/apple jam on the burger buns, top with lettuce (lollo bianco), hash browns, cheddar cheese, roasted onions and cress and serve.
Optional: top with a few crisps for extra crunch.
