Vegetarian diet for babies

It is perfectly safe to bring up your baby as a vegetarian, as long as the diet is right.

Babies want to feel part of the family, so when your baby has passed the early stages of weaning, try to get him or her involved with family mealtimes. Even before they have reached 12 months, babies can eat many of the same foods as other family members.

This is also a good time to look at the whole family’s diet, making sure that it is healthy and well balanced, including enough starchy foods, minimising sugary and fatty foods and avoiding too much salt.

You will be surprised how many family meals can simply be made to the right consistency using your Braun Multiquick hand blender; just remember not to add salt or too much other seasoning, especially spices, during the preparation process – let your family do this at the table if they need to.
